Applying AI to Quality Management: Lessons from Skanska
The construction industry generates large amounts of quality data, yet much of it remains unstructured and underutilized. At the same time, rapid advances in AI are creating new opportunities across industries. In this webinar, Lisa Lövgren and Olivia Turunen present findings from their master’s thesis at Chalmers University of Technology, conducted in collaboration with Skanska.
The study takes a three-part approach: assessing organizational AI readiness, identifying a specific business case within construction quality management, and developing an NLP-based AI prototype to extract insights from historical quality deviation texts. Together, the three tracks reveal both the opportunities and practical barriers to implementing AI in the construction industry, particularly within quality management.
